Ryedale District Council Ryedale Plan - Local Plan Strategy
This Statement gives notice that Ryedale District Council adopted the Ryedale Plan - Local Plan Strategy Development Plan Document on Thursday, 5 September 2013.
The Ryedale Plan – Local Plan Strategy is the part of the Local Plan for the District. It sets out the long-term vision, objectives and planning strategy for 15 years to 2027.
The adoption of the Ryedale Plan - Local Plan Strategy means that almost all of the 'saved' Ryedale Local Plan Polices, adopted in 2002, have now been replaced.
The Ryedale Plan - Local Plan Strategy has been subject to an examination by an independent Planning Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State between May 2012 and August 2013. The Inspector's Report was published on the Wednesday, 14 August 2013. The adopted Ryedale Plan - Local Plan Strategy incorporates the Main Modifications that have been recommended by the Inspector and set out in the accompanying appendix to the Inspector's report, and a number of minor Additional Modifications.
Any person(s) aggrieved by the Ryedale Plan - Local Plan Strategy may make an application to the High Court under Section 113 of the Planning and Compulsory Act 2004 on the grounds that:
- the document is not within the appropriate power of the local authority; or
- that a procedural requirement has not been complied with
Any such application must be made no later than six weeks from the date on which the Local Plan Strategy was adopted, which commenced on Thursday, 5 September 2013 and concludes on Thursday, 17 October 2013.
The Local Plan Strategy and all supporting information, including the Sustainability Appraisal, are available to view on the Council's website.

On Thursday, 5 September 2013 at Ryedale House from 6:30pm Members of Ryedale District at Full Council will consider to adopt The Ryedale Local Plan - Local Plan Strategy. Further information can be found under the Council and Democracy section of the website.
The Additional Modifications are considered by the Inspector to be minor factual or typographical/grammatical clarifications or amendments. They should be read in conjunction with the Submission Version of the Plan, and where necessary the Schedule of Main Modifications.

Release of the Report into Examination into the Ryedale Plan – Local Plan Strategy
The Planning Inspectorate issued the final report into the Local Plan Strategy (LPS) on Wednesday, 14 August 2013, following its submission in May 2012 and hearing sessions which took place in September and October 2012 and May 2013.
The Inspector has concluded that the LPS is sound, subject to the inclusion of a schedule of main modifications which is appended to his report. On this basis, the Inspector states that the LPS "provides an appropriate basis for the planning of the District to 2027".
The Council will at a future meeting of Full Council, seek to adopt the LPS on the basis of the recommendations in the Inspector's report. The report is available to view below:
